• Synnemata is seen in dark fungi

• It is more often seen in Scedosporium

• Individual strands of conidiophores are cemented together to form a single stem like structure at the base

• Conidia on top of the conidiophores spread out due to their larger sizes

• Structure may resemble Aspergillus

• It is difficult to determine a single colony growing on culture media is real specifically when the direct smear is negative
