Biography
Agron Plevneshi is a native of Albania and arrived
in Canada in 1998. At that time, he started in a volunteer position
as a Research Assistant at the Hospital for Sick Children. After
a great start at Sick Kids, he then joined the Microbiology Research
Group at Mount Sinai Hospital in January of 2000.
Agron received both his M.D. and Ph.D. in the Science
of Medicine while in Albania, and is currently taking post-graduate
courses at Humber College for certification as a Clinical Research
Assistant here in Canada. His current position in the department
is as Study Co-ordinator for the Group A Strep Study and Canadian
Bacterial Surveillance Network, where his duties include gathering
information from the participating laboratories in both studies,
co-ordinating the shipment of isolates and blood samples from
all over Ontario and being a liaison with the Infection Control
Practitioners and attending doctors of the respective laboratories.
In his previous roles, Agron has also been involved
with the TIBDN studies, and has created information content for
the department's website. Agron is also currently a member of
the ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals).
