Acremonium species

• Specimen: Sputum

• Medium: Sabouraud agar


Colonies of Acremonium species are moderately fast growing, occasionally raised in central area, velvety to membranous and glabrous, whitish, pale grey, yellowish or pinkish (depending on species), lightly downy, sometimes powdery. Sometimes it becomes moist and yeastlike (personal experience). Reverse pale.
