Coccidioides immitis

Mycelial phase of Coccidioides immitis converts into spherule in a special converse medium incubated at 35-37ºC. In the image above a mature spherule of C. immitis burst open releasing oval endospores 2-5 µm in diameter. The average sizes of a mature spherule is about 100 µm, and may reach 150 µm in diameter.
